 The Government of Ukraine will help IDPs to lodge an application with the ECHR against Russia

The Government launches an initiative thanks to which internally displaced persons, who have lost their homes, work and property due to the Russian aggression, can lodge an application with the European Court of Human Rights or the national courts against the Russian Federation and claim recovery of damages. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk during his working visit to Kharkiv on Friday, 31 July.

In the framework of his visit to Kharkiv the Prime Minister visited the local center for the provision of secondary legal aid, which launches a pilot project aimed at assisting IDPs.

He has pointed out that today people are facing with major challenges, especially IDPs. The Prime Minister has informed that more than 1.3 million citizens have been registered as IDPs.

"We are launching a new initiative thanks to which internally displaced persons, who have lost their homes, work and property due to the Russian aggression, can lodge an application with the European Court of Human Rights or the national courts against the Russian Federation and claim recovery of damages caused by Russia towards every family, every citizen," Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized.
